Attaching the Sensors onto the Dorsal Fin
Step 1. Partially unscrew
- Take a 2.5 hex screwdriver and partially unscrew the two bolts at the ends of the backpack device, without removing the bolts.
Step 2. Activate data logging using the magnetic switch
- Pass a strong magnet over the magnetic switch that is located on the same side as the pressure sensor. You can recognize the magnetic switch, it is the rectangular bulge next to the four-pin connector. The LED located on the same side will turn on blue. The sensor should run for at least 15 seconds before being submerged, so that it can automatically calibrate to local atmospheric pressure in air.
-
Wait 3 seconds for it to begin blinking blue. At this point, the device is all set to be used.
Step 3. Attach the backpack onto the dorsal fin
- Carefully place the backpack sensor onto the dorsal fin, and tighten the bolts. The bolts only need to clamp the sensor onto the fin, do not overtighten them or the threads may strip.
