Preparing sensors

Step 1. Open device

  • Hold the strings on the end cap and twist the cap counterclockwise to unscrew and remove it.
  • After removing the end cap, take out the electronics from the tube by pushing it up until it slides out.

Step 2. Insert batteries

  • Remove the battery clip carefully by inserting a flat edged tool into the groove and push upwards. A small flat screwdriver works best.
  • Insert two fresh AAA batteries, and snap the battery clip back into place, pushing it until both slides click shut.
  • Make sure the BDS is not turned on while handling the device. If the LEDs are on, turn off the BDS before further handling.

Step 3. Close the device

  • Cover the end caps with lubricant.
  • Slide the electronics back into the tube, carefully checking that the o-rings are not bent or pinched into the tube wall. Make sure that the LEDs are clearly visible after closing the tube.
  • Attach the end cap by screwing it clockwise until the device is completely closed. It does not need to be very tight, the o-ring seals the device and only needs to be inside of the tube.

Step 4. Activate the device to log data

  • Activate the device by touching the magnetic ring with the sensor. It will blink red-green-blue as it automatically calibrates to local atmospheric pressure.
  • Wait 25 seconds for it to begin blinking red. At this point, the device is all set to be used.
